HITCHIKE - How Payments and Payouts Work

HitcHike’s Fee:

HITCHIKE applies 10% processing fee to all rides booked through our applications. This helps us keep the lights on, to keep you carpooling! The primary reason for this simply put… it costs us to process payments on both ends of the transaction! Keeping payments in app ensures another layer of your safety when visiting a rider in person. Rather than carry cash to pay in person it allows everything to be handled in app, we can oversee everything from start to finish keeping YOU safe!

For Riders:

After searching and confirming you have found the correct ride for you, simply checkout with the “Book Hitch” button on the post of the Hitch (“Ride”) posting. We make it simple with multiple options to choose at checkout to pay, simply select any previously added debit or credit card on your account and you are all set! You will now see this ride under “My Hitches” in app.

For Driver’s:

After posting a Ride (“Hitch”), it is now thrown into the search, riders can now find, view, and book your ride! As the driver you decide and set the price for each seat in your ride.

Once a rider books a seat in your vehicle they are now shown on the ride (“Hitch”) posting, as a rider in said vehicle. This maintains user safety throughout the entire ride selection process to know and be able to view profiles of all riders in the same vehicle as themselves.

On the date and time of the Hitch (“Ride”), a driver marks in the HitcHike application that they are ready and waiting in the pickup area (previously listed on the hitch posting) for the riders. When this happens, users then mark as picked up when they arrive and hop into the driver’s vehicle. Drivers are able to view which users have confirmed picked up or not. Once all riders have marked picked up the driver can then begin the ride! Once the driver has started the ride, all of the driver’s earnings for that ride are automatically transferred to their in app wallet balance. 

Cashing Out:

As a driver all of your earnings are stored in your in app wallet under the “Payments” tab. Here a driver can then connect their Stripe account in order to be paid out to their debit card or bank account of choosing. Once you create and connect a Stripe account all future rides will be automatically paid out to your Stripe account, skipping the in app wallet. This ensures automatic fund collection for drivers!
